WAFMA 2022 AGM/Dinner wrap-up

The WAFMA AGM/Dinner conducted on 7th September at the South Metro TAFE Bentley Pines Training Restaurant was well attended. WAFMA sincerely thanks Hon. Steve Martin MLC, Adele Farina CEO FIFWA, John Clarke FIFWA Board Member and Kay Gerard CEO of the FFTIT Council Inc. for attending and contributing to the success of the 2022 WAFMA AGM/Dinner.

Our guest speaker renowned forester and FIFWA Board Member John Clarke was entertaining and informative. The Hon. Steve Martin Opposition Spokesperson on Forestry also attended the AGM/Dinner as a guest speaker. Steve supporting forest and allied industries made a very interesting observation during his talk saying that he recently attended a regional function on agriculture also attended by Minister MacTiernan who stated that “policy will change over time to reflect perceived and real industry transgressions”. This ethos explains the State Government’s politically motivated decision to cease logging State Forests.

Kay Gerard conducted the WAFMA election of office bearers for 2022-2023 as follows;

• President – Michael D’ Andrea

• Vice President – Toni Furfaro

• Secretary – Frank Parker

• Treasurer – Bonnie Taylor

• Marketing – Bonnie Taylor

• Committee – Phil Oxenborough

• Committee – Ian Goldfinch
