New WA Career Taster Program

Writer's picture: WAFMAWAFMA

The WA Government has announced a new Year 9 Career Taster Program which aims to inspire secondary school students to become 'career curious' about further study opportunities and potential careers. The program aims to give students opportunities to engage in interactive activities to explore a range of industries, occupations and the skills needed for them.

They have developed a ‘Career Taster Portal” . The intention is that schools will go to the portal and find an experience. They will be able to look for particular industries and any experiences on offer. Some of the activities could include tours of workplaces, excursions, hands-on practical demonstrations. Currently most of the activities listed are provided by TAFE but they would love to see more experiences offered by industry.
