First round of the NEW Furnishings Try-a-Trade program a success!

13 school students attended four days of a NEW Furnishings Trade Taster. This program has been created to increase awareness of careers in the Furnishings sector and promote apprenticeships and training.

The project included two days at TAFE learning the Cabinet Making, and Furniture Finishing trades and then students spent a day earning their White Card. On the fourth day, the students met with various employers / manufacturers and they heard from CTF about apprenticeships. This is a fantastic initiative from the team at Food, Fibre & Timber Industries Training Council (WA) Inc and North Metro TAFE, providing a great hands on approach for students to get a tester of our trade and industry. Round two begins mid November! If you're interested either as a student or an employee/manufacturer, please reach out to us at wafmainfo@gmail.com
